Waikato docs shelve DIY surgery tools 08 Sep 2017

Waikato Hospital has banned surgeons from using a host of DIY tools following enquiries from Stuff.

Hospital bosses have pulled a range of non-medical devices routinely used in operating theatres due to concerns over whether the items can be properly sterilised.

The move follows revelations by Stuff that household items and non-surgical devices were being used in a range of procedures ranging from cardiac surgery to orthopaedics.
